The history and evolution of the water taps:

Water taps developed in Istanbul, Turkey, in the 16th century. At that time, they were moulded from bronze, with this material being superseded by brass, which was cheaper, at a later time. The original purpose was for the water taps to control and save water.

Between the 18th and 19th century, the water taps produced for royal families and wealthy people were artistically enhanced, thus captivating with their beautiful look rather than function.

Visiting the Water Tap Museum in Istanbul, visitors will be surprised to note the great importance attached to the design of the water taps versus their functionality.

During the 20th century, populations in Europe, the USA, Asia etc. became wealthy. The design and elegant look of the water taps no longer reflected a privilege reserved for royal families and rich people, these features were rather shared by ordinary people also. The design and elegant look of the water taps became prevalent.

From the 21st century, health matters started to require more and more attention. The diversity of goods brought not only wealth and enjoyment but also many more diseases not common in the past. 

Water playing an essential role in everyday life, it is natural that research is done into whether it contains any harmful substances and may, therefore, cause any health issues.

Through many years’ investigation and research, it has been found that water may contain lead and that lead is a haemotoxin and neurotoxin.

Lead poisoning may exist for a long latent period before causing complaints. Serious lead poisoning may result in dementia.

Therefore, governments have been making efforts for several years to increasingly restrict the lead content of the materials for use in water pipes and water taps, thus minimising the release of lead into drinking water. The richer a country is, the lower the maximum permissible lead content is.

Many water tap manufacturers endeavour to produce water taps from material without lead content.

At the beginning of 2000, an Italian was globally looking for a manufacturer to produce the water taps from stainless steel rather than the traditional brass/chrome. 

Our factory has been producing stainless steel water taps since 2000. To keep pace with the increasingly rising demand from European customers, we are going to warehouse our kitchen sink mixer taps from stainless steel in Europe from 2016, supplying these to customers from the European location.

Due to stainless steel not containing lead and not releasing lead into drinking water, stainless steel was globally recommended as a safe material for water taps by governments. 

These stainless steel water taps have a great vogue in the USA and Asia due to local governments having restricted the lead content of materials to 0.25%. The production from traditional brass is no longer possible in these countries.

Our factory does produce stainless steel water taps since 2000. To keep pace with the increasingly rising demand from European customers, we have been warehousing our kitchen sink mixer taps from stainless steel in Europe in 2016, supplying these to customers from the European location.
